Swinging around up in Canada….

Friday, September 29th, 2006

jumpfrog.gifUp here north of the border and so far east we could hit water at any moment on the Atlantic Ocean side of this land we have been swinging golf clubs like no other. I am in fact willing to demonstrate my skill in golfing but have a broken computer still (yep, thats right and a bummer I do agree). I had to new record of 18 holes of golf the other day… playing best ball all day it went much faster then if I would have been by myself…

Usually I get my money’s worth with the amount of swings I get per hole. Really that is why I don’t try for more holes in one… no, honest

Anyways the day went a lot like this…

hit the ball, no not the grass in front of the ball… crap, I didn’t hit anything that time
where is the beverage cart??… Okay this is going to be a good one… ooops, next swing
wait, where did the beverage cart go??
okay one more shot… I need a new club, this one isn’t working… k, consentrate
holy cow that was a good one… no not in the water
Sweet here comes the beverage cart!

Phil’s Day went a lot like this…

Crap why is the men’s tee behind the women’s… 4, hey 4
I am going to hit this one soooooooooo far… crap, not again…
Where is that beverage cart anyways??…
sweet, did you see that putt… yep, that was awesome (wait I am starting to sound like Chrissy, she only uses that word)
Anyways, why can’t we just play mini golf??
Alright here comes the beverage cart!!

Other then this and that we have been..

Well, I have been on a break from biking kind of like blogging… I don’t have a bike and I don’t have a computer so it makes it hard to do both, really. (not to mention it is hard to get computer time) We are still helping with cross country, but I don’t do much because my knees started to hurt. I am a really bad watcher so that is what I am working on right now… watching them run

And my mountain bike shoes got here just in time for me to bring them home with me to Bend and go mountain biking there. Thank goodness I have another pair of shoes to travel with…

oh yes, and the trees are changing colors here… kind of like we do. Well most of us. We go from our sweet biker tan lines to no tan lines. It is super duper pretty with the reds, oranges, yellows and greens… (just painting a picture for you since I don’t have a way to show you with no picture putting up abilities)

AND IN THE NEWS…

KRISTIN ARMSTRONG is the World TT Champion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yes true this happened last week, but I haven’t been missing my saddle so I haven’t updated in a while) Congradulations to the fastest women on two wheels leaning over the bars…

Yep, well it is time to go pile up some leaves and jump in them…

Have a good day,

:)Chrissy

Just a Another Not so Manic Monday…

Monday, September 18th, 2006

jumpfrog.gifThat is what was on the Campbellton radio station as I walked up the stairs this morning… Really the only phrase I caught as I was singing and dancing to it was something about I wish my bed were made… and I agree with Cindy Lauper(I think that is who sings the song, and really I have little to no idea how to spell her name). Anyways, that would be sweet if my bed just made itself, not only on Mondays but other days.

But have you ever wondered why we make our bed so often when we are just going to get in it again in oh 12-18 hours, depending on how much you like to sleep…

K, I am going to see if I can get these pictures on from Bermuda that people have sent me…

PickledOnion[1].JPG

That is Meredith, Me, Liza, and Sarah at the Pickled Onion where I didn’t see or find any pickled onions. I don’t know if a pickled onion would be all that good and you would have to brush your teeth multiple times afterwards just so someone would talk to you…

Alright, I am on dial up right now and it takes a tad longer then I want to sit here and download them (being pictures) so probably tomorrow I will put the others up when we (being Phil and I) adventure to fast speed internet…

And talking about Phil, he won the KOM jersey. Sweet, that means I am going to pick up a king at the airport tonight… that is pretty cool, oh yes I agree. I have never met a king before. Although I already know Phil… I am not saying we are meeting for the first time. I don’t have to bring a sign or anything with his name on it to find him. For one, I flew in there on Wednesday and it is a small airport. I could just yell out his name and I think everyone in the airport would hear me, not that I am going to have to do that…

Alright, today it looks like I am going for a run in the rain… and what better song to run to the Dancing in the rain, Actually it is Dancing on the Celling, but if you just change all words from Celling to Rain it will work just great. The skinny minny’s Dad sings that song… Paris’s friend.

Thats all for now,

I hope your bed is made for, either way it is Monday and you sould listen to that sweet song…

:)Me or I, both Chrissy

I can hardly…

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

jumpfrog.gifWell we all know I can hardly spell, but that is not what I am talking about. As I told you I am helping with cross country practice and after running at mock speeds chasing the boys around… no I am not trying to pick up on high school boys. I was in charge of getting a time on them after a 5K run so had to keep up with the fastest one…

So anyways after almost pulling every muscle in my body, actually not my whole body just my legs, can hardly walk around. And let me tell you stairs are nearly impossible, I can’t begin to tell you, but am going to start right now, that stairs are everywhere in Canada. I have been up and down countless stairs.
Normally I don’t notice them, but when I can hardly get down them… there is a lot more all of a sudden.
So if you just aren’t getting sore from your daily exercise… change it up a touch and wam, bam…
Not that I was hoping for that…
Anyways, while I have been running Phil has been kicking butt in Tobega (I think closer then the last spelling). He was in the leaders jersey and is now, well as of yesterday, in 2nd place. Wahooo
Brenda just sent me a tone of pictures so I will work on those tomorrow, Monday, or Tuesday.
Have a good night Saturday night… I am off to shake-it to Saturday Night Fever in honor of Saturday night,

:)Chrissy

ps.. I went to my first garage sale extravaganza today all over the land of Campbellton. Lots and lots of stuff you can find at these sales. Deals too. You don’t think you can find anything for a quarter anymore. Well I found the place for you…. Garage and Yard Sales. Wala

Back on the right side…

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

jumpfrog.gifNot that the left side is the wrong side, I am just saying I am back on the right side of the road. I was actually sleeping on the right hand side of the bed in Bermuda to make sure I remember what it was like… oh yes, even while the wind was a blowin’ and a blowin’ at mock 100 miles an hour and the rains were coming down sideways…

We made it through the hurricane… it was actaully only a Cat. 1 and although to be a Cat. 1 in cycling is top notch coolness a Cat. 1 hurricane is not top notch, but cool. I am not saying that if you are not a Cat. 1 you are not top notch because you are. Anyways, the winds were strong enough to blow are electricity out and phone lines, but the roof of the house stayed right where it was… thank goodness. We played lots of games like Scrabble (my favorite because I am such a spectacular speller), uno, clue, monoply, and some others I can’t remember what they were called. I heard there was some wind tunnel experiments going on, on the other side of the island by Tim Johnson. I wish I would have thought of that… that could have been fun. I have never been able to get much air jumping with my bike and with winds like that I bet I could have gotten some sweet air. Oh well, theres always next year…

So after the storm was all fin-e-toed we headed back to the states where Katharine, Janelle, and I got to sleep in the Newwork (something like that) airport, but didn’t really sleep at all… We were dropped off at 1am and tried to lay on Kats bike bag, without a bike, to get some sleep. It was kinda like sleeping in snow with elevator music playing in the sun…

BUT, at about 6am I advanced inside security where there was carpet on the ground and man was that ever so much better…

Now I am in Campbellton, New Bruinswick with Phil, but not quit yet because he is racing in Tye-begga. I managed to sleep 12 hours last night due and now it is time to get dressed for the day. Then later I am going to be helping with cross country practice… I hope I get a whistle to blow.

Pictures soon, but I am not sure who soon because my teammates have to send them.

Until then I hope you have some cool pictures to look at…

:)Chrissy

ps… it was like snow because it is cold sleeping on fake tile, And the sun was out, but not at all, because it was so nice and bright in there. Altough I have to admit it would be kinda scary to be in the airport with no lights on…

Today is the day…

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

jumpfrog.gifToday is the day the mighty hurricane that stopped all racing and sent people a flyin’ back to the states is going to hit Bermuda. We (being Katharine, Janelle, Rachel, Kate, Brenda, Chris, Mike and me) are still on the island, pretty much waiting for it to come. The winds have started picking up and the waves are big enough I surely wouldn’t go boogie boarding on them. It really isn’t so much the height of the waves as the back tow they create as the go back out into the ocean. You may get swept away by one and getting back would probably require some top notch swimming skills. I am no expert top notch swimmer so just sticking my toes in the water is pretty daring right now.

Katharine, Janelle, and I went out to scooter around and see what was happening and the statis of things… Not to much right now. Another trip will be happening later when the winds pick up a bit. Our guess right now is 30mph right now down on the beach…

I am going to go run because in about oh 3-12 hours we will not be going anywhere. Actually I have no idea, but I am guessing the winds will be so mighty if you try to ride your scooter, unless you are Arnold, you will not be able to hold onto the scooter due to the winds…

Alright, I will keep you posted on Hurricane coming right at Bermuda as longs as we have internet…

Until then

:)Chrissy

Tanning our toes in Bermuda…

Friday, September 8th, 2006

gogirl.gif Theres a lot of shaking going on here and so you get a better idea of what is really happening the rabbit is on for today… the frog is resting

So, here in the salty seas of Bermuda we have been fish diving due to the resent threat of a hurricane coming this way…

DSCN3704.jpg DSCN3706.jpg DSCN3708.jpg

Most, but not all, of us were not able to hold the upside down snokling position for a long period of time so were unable to capture a fish… but that is a-okay with me really… Mainly because fish can be, but not always, stinky. And who wants to be stinky in Bermuda…

Not I

Here is a picture of us (being everyone in the picture) at a coffee shop where I am pretty sure no one got anything due to the cost of coffee on the island… Alot

DSCN3649.jpg

Alright well you know what hurricanes mean… the waves are getting big and that means it is time to go ketch some and hopefully not eat to much sand and drink to much salt.

We will see how that goes…

Until later, later gator

:)Chrissy

ps… we weren’t really fish diving we were tanning our toes

pss… if you can’t get the picture to get larger

1) if you have a by-focal use that

2) if you are visiting your grandparents barrow their glasses

3) place your face as close to the computer as possible… with you nose hitting the screen

psss…. this is only if you can’t see the picture very well, there are some nice toes to look at

Surrounded by Salt…

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

jumpfrog.gifSurrounded by Salt…

It is great to be surrounded by salt as long as you don’t drink too much of it… I mean some is okay, but too much is not recommended at all. Unless of course you like it so much you can’t ever get enough of it…

Anyways, we (being a lot of people) are here in Bermuda riding scooters, snorkeling, rock jumping (not at all like skipping rocks although that could be fun… maybe rocks float better in the ocean too, allowing for a greater number of skips… we float better so off of logic that seems about right), Frisbee, scooter rally practice, and hopefully some body surfing and/or boogie boarding in the next couple days.

It has been super duper warm here… just the way I like it. Even the water is warm so you can swim and swim for hours. My goals was not to fry in the first two hours of being here and I am happy to announce that I have been successful at that so far… Actually I was successful cause I have now been here for almost 3 days.

Last night was the get together first night good times followed by a little dancing or shaking for some, myself included. I can’t say I really dance… it is definitely more shaking followed by some jumping or what not. It really just depends on the beat or stuff…

Tonight is the first night of action on bikes around a loop and up a hill for about 30 minutes. Then tomorrow is the 2-19 minute time trial, hopefully closer to 2 minutes then 19. Oh yes then circular racing again followed by a road race possibly in a hurricane on Sunday… Hopefully just the road race part

Well that is all for now. I am suppose to be resting so am writing a bit about what is going on, on the island surround by salt called Bermuda.

No pictures because my computer is still dead and not with me…

But as soon as I get back to the big island (cause really if you think about it North and South America is just one gigantic island) I will put of pictures of this and that, that hopefully people taking pictures send me…

K, Have fun,

:)Chrissy

Way back when…

Monday, September 4th, 2006

jumpfrog.gifIt has been a long time since I have been on missing saddle dot come…. That is pretty much all that I am not missing right now, my saddle.

Although after a long vacation the frog is back for some more jumping and skipping. I am pretty happy about that. Don’t get me wrong cookie monster did a great job….

My computer is still deathly sick… actually I am not really sure because we are not together at the moment. I left it behind due to its illness. That is one of the few things I can say I actually didn’t forget on this trip… I just left it behind.

However I really can’t say the about other things I am missing on this trip… my shoes for one, actually two cause this is the second thing I listed and there are two of them.

Anyways, while I was away doing this and that mostly in Canada I have been training for the ever so long and grueling (however it is spelled)… close to glueing… 10K race in Atlanta this morning or actually by now it was yesterday, but I am still up because we drove from there to Barto, PA.

Oh yes 11 hours in the car and what better way to spend it playing the ever so popular game MASH… you know mansion, apartment, shak, house. Please don’t tell me you don’t remember that game from elementary school or really even middle school. Well, either way it was good times in the Victory Brewing Van. Oh no we didn’t have any beer with us…

Tomorrow we are of to the land of sand, waves, schooters, and fun and to say I can’t wait would be an understatement!!! So I will just go ahead and say it… wahooo Bermuda here we come.

Alright I better go get some sleep before it is time to leave. I have to go make sure I have everything…

Cheers

:)Chrissy
