Night Time Racing In Athens…

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

jumpfrog.gifThank goodness we didn’t need in any night vision goggles… mainly because I don’t know about you, but I don’t own any. However the guys started a lot later then we did and maybe next year they should think about these items or item… just one goggle, well for both eyes… or maybe just the guy who ran into the barrier and took the field out…
Anyways in the girls race we were moving mainly by leaning to the right as fast as possible for about 40K.
The were a lot of attacks here and there and later in the race a group of five of us got off the front… out of the five of us up there, there were 3 who had raced on Ford-Basis which was cool. So the break consisted of and in this finishing order…
1 Katharine Carrol (Aaron’s Pro Cycling)
2 Iona Wynter (Colavita-Sutter Home)
3 Chrissy Ruiter (Cheerwine)
4 Ally Brandt (HealthCoach)
5 Kele Murdin (Ultralink)
I just copied and pasted that from cyclingnews because I didn’t want to spell anyones name wrong… including mine.

This was the first of 8 crits all around the southern eastern boarders of the US and the Atlantic Ocean. Today we travel upward and onward to the next one where hopefully we will have internet and I can use someones computer…

Now reporting from chrissyruiter.com since there wasn’t one up any where in my eyes was it was fast with a lot of attacks with the final one getting away with just about 15 laps give or take a few to go. We had about 28sec. gap at one time and almost got caught at the end by the closing field. I attacked with about 1/2 lap to go and even though I told my legs to go fast they just didn’t do that… Kat passed me and Iona. (now I wear contacts and without sunglasses they tend to get a little fuzzy so it might have gone a bit different, but something like that)

Congrads Kat!

Time to do a couple spinning exercises to get ready for the circular racing tonight,

:)Chrissy

No bike throwing today….

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

Hello hello. I am still here on earth in the land
of cali, california but am heading eastward tomarrow. I know it seems like I traveled far away but I in fact didn’t travel to venus or mars.To be honest I couldn’t remember if girls were from venus or mars so just decided to stay here.

Also I have been focusing on some super secret foot throwing practice for todays race here at Sea
Otter cork screw racing. Why, you may wonder. Well because we get timing chips on our ankles here which means the bike throw is not as important as the foot throw. If you can get your foot in front during the final sprint you are bound to win. And do you know what is the biggest bummer?

After all that foot throwing practice I didn’t get to test how fit my leg truly was because someone started throwing pelets at us in the middle of the race. I heard it was just rain but I am not sure I buy it. I have been known to be gullable along with the idea I don’t know how to spell so I am not so sure it is really true it was only raining out.

Anyways they stopped our race just after we were half way through the race. True the ability to see was slim to none but dang my leg was feeling loose and ready for the finish.

Well now the sun is out and the men are racing around the race track. They get to do the cork screw 31 times. Good times, good times.

So I think my new years resolution is going to be to update here and there more often. Here being where I am and there being where I am going to be.
Yep that sounds like a plan.

The other girls of Cheerwine are in Florida where rumor has it, it is sun tanning hot weather there.

Time to continue my bike race watching from my car.
