On the edge…
Saturday, July 19th, 2008Now I am talking about where we are in Europe today in the town of Brests and true I know what you are thinking… do a lot of women live here. But to tell you the truth I am not sure because we are in a school and haven’t been into town. The good news is we have our own showers at this school, the bad news we have to hop, skip and jump over the our bags to get to the shower because four of us our in a pretty tiny room. I have to say though it is kinda fun… slumber party all over again.
So we left Czech Repubulic last week were there were hills, hills and more hills. I think we were either going up or down the whole time. It was a hard race with a few bumpy roads… so bumpy in fact that I thought I had a rear flat when I didn’t. Yep, so as I pull over I reach behind me now unsure if it really is flat and grab it to realize it wasn’t… Kat and Carmen were pulling over too. Hum, ut oh, no flat. I jump back on my bike yell, “sorry, never mind” and we were off again.
Now we are on the west coast of France, as I said, in the town of Brests, about to head out for a race in the rain. Yesterday was a great day… it was sunny, Lauren was in a break with Joanne and is now in second overall, Also Alison was in a break and was third for the day… maybe third overall (I haven’t seen results), I crashed again and didn’t break my bike, and managed to land on the opposite side I landed on the day before…
Dang, I was going to download pictures but my computer won’t read the card reader so I will have to hook it up later… I just made the walk up to the third floor and am not sure I want to do it again right now. Kat gave me her old carmera to use since mine decided to leave me earlier in the year. No warning, nothing.
Anyways, hopefully the ping ponging of racers will come to a stop and I will stop having to ride over the top of girls only to come to a pounding stop. Yesterday I cracked my helmet and at this point am wondering if I should put on elbow and knee pads for the rest of the week. Hummm
Yesterday was numero three, so hopefully I am fineto crashing for a while…
Cheers,
:)Chrissy
ps… my little jumping frog is gone…. It might just be on vacation.
Since then, which was way back when, I have been all over the US of A and am on my way over the Salty Waters to race all over yander. I can’t even remember when I last talked about this and that… oh yes, when I was in Washington DC. So since then I have managed to avoid melting in Philly (although I am pretty sure it was a close call), sliding out in Minnesota, only to go over the top of someone the next day (thank goodness my bike is so tough and took most of the crash). Then I was off to Austin were I went to the swimming hole as many times as possible, hung out with Kate, Brenda, and Laura, then traveled around in circles with Martina, Taitt, and Hannah. Next and finally I flew home to Bend where I got to hang out with Phil for the week!!
